I’m inventing ways to alleviate my boredom. Here’s how it works: we tell a story using lyrics from songs about London or with a London theme. You follow the post of the person above with lyrics that make the story progress, in a way that makes sense.
You must credit the song that the lyrics come from.
I’ll start.
In the all-night cafe at a quarter past eleven, same old man sitting there on his own Looking at the world over the rim of his tea-cup, Each tea lasts an hour, then he wanders home alone.
(The Beatles – Streets of London)

premiumActually the song is by Ralph McTell but,
Have you seen the old girl, Who walks the streets of London. Dirt in her hair and her clothes in rags? She’s no time for talking, She just keeps right on walking, Carrying her home in two carrier bags.

Walkin’ down the kings road, I see so many faces.

Cobo’s entry is null and void, because a) he used the same song and b) HE USED THE SAME SONG.
Follow on from Sucky’s:
Walkin’ down the kings road, I see so many faces.

premiumBabb, I know, but it fitted the follow on, then I suppose it should !!

But it’s an utterly pointless game if you use the same song, Cobo. I may as well have posted a whole song then deleted the thread. And, further more, LESS TALKING AND MORE POSTING LYRICS.
Thank you.
So far we have:
In the all-night cafe at a quarter past eleven, same old man sitting there on his own Looking at the world over the rim of his tea-cup, Each tea lasts an hour, then he wanders home alone.
Walkin’ down the kings road, I see so many faces.

So we rode down to the river where the toiling ghosts strain for their curses to be broken…
We’d go underneath the arches where the witches are in there saying There are ghost towns in the ocean…

premiumIt’s love you like, and everyone’s at it
And words are cheap when the mind is elastic
He loves the violence
Keeps ticking over
So sleep together
Before today is sold forever

Oh, the first time that you tried a pill, you feel a little queasy, decidedly ill. You’re gonna be sick, but you mustn’t lose face, to let yourself down would be a big disgrace

That’s what you get from clubbing it. You can’t go home and go to bed, because it hasn’t worn off yet, and now it’s morning. There’s only one place we can go, it’s around the corner in Soho, where other broken people go. Let’s go.

onlineWay down the street there’s a lad in his place, he opens the door he’s got that look on his face, he asks you where you’ve been, you tell him who you’ve seen and you talk about anything. He’s got this dream about buying some land, he’s gonna give up the booze and the one night stands, and then he’ll settle down there’s this quiet little town and forget about everything.

Take the key and lock him up, Lock him up, lock him up, Take the key and lock him up, My fair lady.

premiumDo you see what they are, do you hear what they say, people it is sad but true. They’re dressed really stupid, but they think they’re OK, and they got no use for you. They’re the dead girls of London, why do they act that way?

They seek him here, they seek him there. In Regent Street and Leicester Square. Everywhere the Carnabetian army marches on, each one an dedicated follower of fashion.

premiumAt the Hammersmith Palais, in Kensington and Camden Town, there’s a part that I used to play; the lovely diorama is really part of the drama, I’d say.
Don’t look at me, I’m having the time of my life, or something quite like it, when I’m walking out and about in London’s brilliant parade.
Great thread, Babb (not part of the song).

onlineA foggy day in London town, it had me low, it had me down. I viewed the morning with much alarm, the British Museum had lost its charm. How long I wondered could this thing last, but the age of miracles it hadn’t passed, and suddenly I saw you standing right there, and in foggy London town the sun was shining everywhere.

I know you love me and always will, my better half it’s true has seen the darker side of you, innocence stripped away, at least I’ve the brighter fate…
