A quiet spot in Soho?

I have to meet some people in Soho of an early evening. I have to record the conversation for work purposes, so anywhere with loud music or busy is out of the question.

Any ideas people? A bar or café would be best. Was thinking of the Phoenix Theatre Bar or something. Is that noisy?

The Phoenix is lovely, and not noisy unless it’s a Friday or Saturday evening. Make sure you get there quite early though, as they usually have someone on the door from 7/8-ish onwards (it’s members-only in the evenings). Plus it’s closed on Sundays. Other than that, knock yourself out.

Why won’t this map thing work?

A short hop from the busy streets of Soho, but one of my favourite places to go when I want to be able to look into someone’s eyes and have a deep conversation (ok, maybe not whilst recording them, but you get the idea) is the bar/ restaurant of the Covent Garden Hotel on Monmouth Street. it’s ever so classy and you can usually tuck yourself away in a corner towards the back, which may be less noisy.

Failing that, if it’s early early evening (ie. before work finishes, the bar at The Curzon Soho cinema doesn’t get too rammed before 6ish.)

The lounge bit of the Covent Garden hotel. If you don’t mind lots of chintz and a giant cat.

Thanks all. I may try the Covent Garden, though someone has also suggested somewhere run by same lot in Charlotte St.

That’s it, I want my kudos back! Though you can have it back again for suggesting the Soho hotel, which looks ideal in location and lack of noise potential.

The Apex bar on Leicester Square used to be a good bet but it seems to have now been demolished, as of last month. Shame. I imagine it will reopen as something a lot more “Leicester Square”.

That’s the problem with Soho. If it is quiet then they generally aren’t making their rent.
