A Londony pub quiz in London from the Londonist.

Took place
18:45 on 1st Oct at Ray's Jazz Cafe, First Floor at Foyles, 113-119 Charing Cross Road.
6 people attending, 23 responses
A Mac-less Stella wanted this event posting. Happy to oblige, if it helps knock Mr Porridge off the top slot:
‘The most Londony quiz you’ll come across this year takes place on 1st October at Ray’s delightful Jazz Cafe on ‘the’ Charing Cross Road.
Your compere is Charles Dickens and your friends at Londonist wish to vex you with fiendish and foolish questions all coming at you from the city. The London Word Festival folks will be dropping by to riddle you rotten and there will be prizes. Woot!
It costs £2 per head on the door with the cash going straight to London’s Air Ambulance charity. All we ask in advance is that you BOOK your team in – space is limited. Teams of up to 5 are fine. Fun it will be – come and play!’
Thanks, Stella. I’m a bit of an expert on ‘The Big Smoke’, so I’ll be turning up.
Tick your willingness to attend here, but to book you must go to The Londonist

My_Left_Foot, if you’re doing anything else that night, cancel it.

On a technical note, it’s not necessarily a Mac that you need to post on event – it’s the Safari browser that does the trick.
It’s works on PCs too.

“It’s works”?
Ray’s Jazz Cafe isn’t really a pub now though is it. Can I sit in the George and participate by satellite link-up?

And make sure you’re there early enough to get a few rounds in let everyone buy you a drink

Why me? I’m flattered/slightly scared at such attention…
But, I’m afraid to say, I cannot attend. Not unless the nice people at UEFA allow me to cancel the Europa League football match I’m planning on going to that evening. Which they won’t. Sorry…

Nooooooo! I meant iSD! Apologies to both of you. Drinks are on me.

I’m putting it on my calendar right now.

You have to book, Mel. And anyone else, for that matter.
To do that, email londonist@gmail.com
Some KCLers have booked via Facebook – there’s loyalty for you – so we already have one team. But with Mel and a few others we can field two perfectly-formed and unstoppable teams, ready to storm right to the middle of the table! Yay!
Joke for Will: Who’s the most unpopular guy at a Borussia Monchengladbach home game? The one who shouts ‘Give us a B!’

Tis done.

I am belatedly ticking after BNM coaxed me in by SMS as I was departing for a dirty weekend by the sea on Friday. Do I need to anything else? Whose side am I on?
Posted 12 months ago by iSleepDiagonal

You’re on the winning side, iSD.
Posted 12 months ago by BraveNewMalden

Hurray! What’s the prize? Do we need a team name?
I’d look at the Londonist website but the American Apparel ads are a bit too sexy for daytime use.
Posted 12 months ago by iSleepDiagonal

Yes, we do need a team name. No one’s ever used Brainy Winehouse before.
Posted 11 months ago by BraveNewMalden

How about Whiney Brainhouse?

Is everyone who has ticked still attending? If so, thats one too many for one team. I might drop out if thats the case, a team of one is not going to do much (especially if that 1 is me).
Posted 11 months ago by Mellie

Looking forward to it tomorrow – unfortunately, I can’t be in a team for obvious reasons but I will be cheerleading and eating cake in the vicinity.
Posted 11 months ago by stella

Mellie, I’ve asked around and it seems everyone who ticked is coming along. But we all have to be kicked out by 9pm so will probably go for a drink somewhere afterwards. Has been known.
Why don’t you come along for that?
