It’s very well written, but so painfully cynical. While I disagree with the rampant consumerism and commercialism of Valentine’s Day, I think we should treat every day as a chance to tell those we love how much we love them. Aaah. And I, for one, am expecting a bulging sack on the 14th. I have a bulging sack most days, actually.

I have an easy antidote to Valentine’s Day. It’s also my daughter’s birthday so instead of getting all lovey-dovey, we have to put balloons everywhere and do birthday cake and such like. Hardly conducive to a romantic evening.

She’s also going to be 16, which is a frightening prospect…
