There was so much crazy action in the mayoral campaign last week that Londonist was left gasping to keep up. The most entertaining bit was when Boris Johnson launched his environment manifesto with a photo opportunity on Hampstead Heath. BBC London viewers and others were treated to the splendid sight of The Blond hacking his way through a patch of north London undergrowth – perhaps specially provided for the occasion, who knows? – wearing that mildly self-satirising expression we all know and some love, but which he probably needs to keep off his face between now and 1st May. As it happens I’m off to meet said Boris (and his brother) on 10th April along with Jan Smit.
It’s a meeting I get to attend now and than but good to meet and question polititions and their sort.

Cobster – it’ not really a question as such – viz. the bit in bold… It’s from the fabulous londonist. Though I note it’s actually from Dave Hill, who writes the Guardian’s mayoral commentary and is regularly castigated by Boris’ supporters for his ‘pro-Ken bias’. I’ve always found him quite balanced personally.
This is even though I’m (shock, horror) a Boris supporter (second choice Paddick – although he might end up my first choice on the paper due to the vagaries of the voting system).
There’s no real purpose to this comment so far, so I’ll just say that I’m really pleased that londonist and FCL have got together. I’m sure they’ll have beautiful children.

premiumOkay, understand, my meet with said Boris has shifted to 16th April, seems Boris can’t make the 10th for some reason which he didn’t disclose..
Will have to see how the marriage goes…
