Still a newcomer to the city festival circuit, Field Day returns for a second year to Hackney’s Victoria Park on 9 August 2008. The recently announced line-up looks like it should provide a diverse sampling of some of our favourite acts. The line up is incredibly tempting… but I went last year so I know how poor this lot are at organising festivals. Aside from the ridiculous queues, the sound was of both poor quality and low volume, and when you are going for the line up, thats a rather crucial factor.
But still, I did actually enjoy it last year, and if the weather is nice, it has the potential to be a good day out… maybe they’ll actually have learnt from all their mistakes!

I went last year as well – the majority of the small number of toilets were out of order, leading to people having to go in the surrounding areas (and not just for wees, either!), it was impossible to get a drink and even the stand pipes ran out of water (not that I wanted a drink by this point, given the lack of facilities). There was no lighting or signage to get out of the park, meaning that any people who had managed to get some drinks inside them would be incredibly vulnerable. Never, ever again.
