Hundreds of commuters were stuck underground for nearly 3 hours last night, their hometime ruined by a power failure on the Jubilee Line. As usual, such bad news doesn’t make it onto TfL’s website but the BBC report that Blitz spirit prevailed with resigned passengers sharing food and seats while the unfortunate driver kept them up to date with… well, not very much really. premiumI was stuck on it for 30 minutes and was ‘detrained’ at Bermonsdey. That would have been fine if I happened to live in Bermondsey, but clearly I do not.
There were thousands of people streaming along whatever the main road is called there, all heading west and all looking vainly for a cab or bus. I have the London smarts so crossed the road and found a minicab office within minutes from which a cab took me to Waterloo.
Sympathy for those who had to endure two or three hours without a seat.
